1984 God conceives First Chinese Baptist Church (FCBC) Walnut in the hearts of brothers and sisters from FCBC LA (Mother Church), who begin to pray for vision and direction in opening a new chapter in the San Gabriel Valley region. This leads to the first prayer meeting at Rex and Nancy Chan¹s home in West Covina in October, 1984.

September 1984 Jackson Lau is called to the FCBC LA pastoral staff.

March 3, 1985. The San Gabriel Valley branch of FCBC LA holds its first service in the Mesa Robles school auditorium in Hacienda Heights.


1988 A 2.7 acre lot in Walnut chosen as the site for the future home.

1992 Construction begins.

Jan 1993 Joseph Tang is called to join our staff to minister to Chinese speaking.

June, 1993 the first worship service is held in the new facility.

1997 Average Sunday service attendance grows to 700 worshippers, compared to 300 at Mesa Robles School facilities.February 1997 Alan Balatbat is called to serve as Youth Director.

April 1998 Tolman Yung is called to serve as Children¹s Director.

March, 1999 FCBC Walnut becomes an independent church.

August 31, 2000 Alan Balatbat leaves. The church begins search for a youth director.

July 1, 2001 Ted Kau is called to serve as the associate pastor to minister to the English Ministries.

September, 2001 David McCormick is called to serve as pastor (part-time) to minister to the Cantonese Ministries.

October, 2001 the church begins separate worship services for Mandarin and Cantonese Ministries. Associate Pastor Tang leads the Mandarin, and Pastor McCormick leads the Cantonese.

March 2, 2002 FCBC Walnut celebrates its 17th Anniversary!

July, 2002 Jerry Hwang is called to serve as the youth director.

August, 2002 Tolman Yung leaves. He continuous to serve as children director in FCBC LA.

December, 2002 David McCormick leaves. He serves full-time in Golden Gate Theological Seminary.

January, 2003 Joseph Tang leaves. He moved to Hong Kong to continuous his ministry in missions.

April, 2003 Ben Lin is called to serve as the associate pastor to minister to the Mandarin ministries.

July 1, 2003 Wilson Tsoi is called to serve as the associate pastor to minister to the Cantonese ministries.
